AURINKO CROCHET SUN HAT

[På svenska här] Aurinko is Finnish for sun. This cute crochet sun hat works up quickly in any size you like, from newborn to grandpa, in worsted weight cotton yarn.

With the help of simple maths, you can crochet your Aurinko sun hat to fit anyone perfectly. The only thing you need is the head circumference of the wearer – plus yarn and hook of course!

This is the perfect project to use up your yarn leftovers. You don’t even have to swatch to test your tension, as gauge doesn’t matter! Sounds good doesn’t it?! This crochet hat pattern uses American crochet terms.

WHAT DO I NEED?

  • About 150-200 m / 160-220 yards worsted weight cotton yarn (c. 75-85 m / 80-95 yards per 50g). I used two colours, alternating every other round and carrying the yarn up, but you can use any number of colours you like, or make it in one solid colour.
  • 4 mm / G crochet hook – you want a fairly dense fabric
  • Tapestry needle, scissors and measuring tape

I – like so many indie designers out there – spend a lot of time and care designing, writing, testing and editing my patterns, hence I think it’s the right thing to do to charge a small fee for my self-published patterns.
