[på svenska här] Originally published in print, exclusively in Swedish magazine ‘Stickat & sånt’ in 2020, this crochet tee pattern has been re-released as Scilla Tee in English (US terms), Swedish and Spanish after going through some tweaks, improvements to readability and, of course, thorough testing of every size from XXS-4XL.
Named after the little blue spring flowers – Scilla – that covered the lawn in my garden when this design came to be, the Scilla Tee is crocheted in rounds top-down in light DK or fingering weight yarn. This crochet tee pattern uses American crochet terminology and is size inclusive with sizes XXS-4X. My testers have described it as an intermediate level pattern. It is a fairly easy make for the seasoned crocheter, thanks to thorough and clear written instructions, and likely a bit of a challenge for the adventurous beginner. The shoulder lace is described within the written pattern as well as pictured as a crochet symbol chart; you can follow one or the other, or both, depending on what you find easier.
PATTERN INFORMATION
YARN: light sport weight cotton or cotton-flax mix. I used Colin from Järbo (65% cotton, 35% flax, 150 m per 50 g skein). Any sport weight cotton yarn with c. 120-150 m per 50 g, untreated for a matte finish, or mercerised for a bit of shine will do very well, e.g. Patons Grace, Schachenmayr Catania or Scheepjes Catona.
YARDAGE: c. 600 (750) 750 (750) 900 (900) 1050 (1200) 1350 metres/ c. 660 (820) 820 (820) 990 (990) 1150 (1320) 1500 yards
GAUGE: 19 dc and 12 rows = 10*10 cm / 4*4 inches
SIZES: XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL
TEE CIRCUMFERENCE: 80 (85) 90 (100) 110 (120) 135 (150) 160 cm/ 31½ (33½) 35½ (39½) 43½ (47¼) 53 (59) 63 inches. Pick a size 5-10 cm/ 2-4 inches larger than your bust measurement, since the tee is designed to have a bit of positive ease.
HOOK: 3mm (US size C or D), or size needed to obtain correct gauge.
